TMJ TREATMENT THAT LOOKS BEYOND THE JAW.

Jaw pain rarely exists in isolation.

Clenching, headaches, facial tension, neck pain, limited movement and that jaw that just won’t let go can all be part of a larger pattern.

I work with the jaw, face, neck, shoulders—and the way your body is holding tension—to help change that pattern.

Is This Right for You?

You wake up already clenching.

Your jaw aches after a stressful day.

The headaches keep coming back.

Your neck and shoulders never seem to completely relax.

Your jaw clicks, pops, or doesn’t open as easily as it should.

You’ve tried a night guard. Maybe you’ve tried massage, stretching, chiropractic care, or medication.

Some of it helps.

But the tension keeps finding its way back.

That’s why I don’t treat the jaw like it’s working by itself.

YOUR JAW IS PART OF A SYSTEM.

Your jaw doesn’t move independently from the rest of you.

The way you breathe, brace, hold your head, move your neck and carry tension through your shoulders can all influence what’s happening at the jaw.

So we don’t just chase the tightest muscle.

We look at the pattern.

Your session may include focused work to the jaw, face, scalp, neck and shoulders; movement-based techniques; and gentle intraoral work when appropriate and always with your consent.

The goal is simple: less guarding, easier movement, and a jaw that doesn’t have to work so hard.

THE BODY DOESN’T RELEASE BY FORCE.

More pressure isn’t always the answer.

I work slowly and responsively, giving your body time to soften rather than forcing my way through resistance.

That means pressure, positioning and movement can change throughout the session depending on how your body responds.

No routine. No forcing. No one-size-fits-all treatment.

This focused first session gives us time to talk about what’s been happening, assess how your jaw and surrounding areas are moving, begin hands-on treatment, and determine what makes sense next.

You don’t need to know what kind of treatment you need before you arrive.

That’s my job.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE FIRST SESSION?

Some people come in with a newer, focused issue. Others have been clenching, guarding, hurting or compensating for years.

Your next session should reflect that.

Depending on what we find, continued care may include focused TMJ sessions, longer face + jaw sessions, or whole-body work when the pattern extends beyond the jaw.

  • What conditions can TMJ therapy help with?

TMJ therapy may help reduce jaw pain, clenching, teeth grinding, headaches, facial pain, neck tension, limited jaw opening, and discomfort related to TMJ dysfunction. Every session is customized to your specific symptoms and goals.

  • Will I be undressed during my session?

No. All sessions are fully clothed. Treatment may include the jaw, face, scalp, neck, shoulders, and—in some cases—with your informed consent, gentle intraoral work to address muscles inside the mouth that contribute to TMJ dysfunction.

  • Do I need a referral from my dentist?

No referral is required. You can book directly. If you were referred by your dentist, orthodontist, or another healthcare provider, simply let us know when scheduling so we can coordinate care if appropriate.

  • How many sessions will I need?

Every client is different. Some people experience noticeable relief after a single session, while others with long-standing jaw tension or chronic clenching benefit from a short series of treatments. During your first visit, we’ll discuss your goals and recommend a plan that’s right for you.

Meet Your Therapist

15 years of hands-on experience. A very different way of looking at tension.

I’m Tanya Marie, LMT and owner of Restoring Balance Healing Arts.

I specialize in TMJ, facial tension and chronic pain patterns that don’t respond well to routine massage.

My work is curious by nature: rather than assuming the painful spot is the problem, I look at how your body is moving, compensating and protecting itself—and let that guide the session.

Because where it hurts isn’t always where the pattern begins.
